Casemix tab describes the characteristics of patients recorded by the community teams.
A range of casemix variables are entered by the acute team when the record is created. For records started by community teams, only age and gender are entered.
This tab shows:
- Number of stroke patients: (L2.1 -L2.16)
- Number of records started by the community
- Reason for starting the record (only patients whose record was started by the community team will be included in this measure)
- Demographics: (L3.1 – L4.7)
- Age on arrival
- Gender
Comorbidities before stroke: (L5.1 – L5.13)
This identifies any coexisting conditions before stroke such as Congestive Heart Failure, Hypertension, Atrial Fibrillation, Diabetes, Prior stroke/TIA and DementiaOnly patients whose record was started by an acute team will be included in this measure
Stroke Type: (L6.1 – L6.7)
This shows the number of Infarction, Intracerebral haemorrhage, or unknown strokes reported.Only patients whose record was started by an acute team will be included in this measure
Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) before stroke — L7.1 to L7.13
This shows results of mRS scores before stroke by using the 0-5 scale which measures the degree of disability or dependence in the daily activities of stroke patients.Only patients whose record was started by an acute team will be included in this measure
NIHSS at arrival (L8.1 to L9.11)
This shows patients NIHSS scores at arrival to first acute team according to the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale which is a 15-item tool that measures the severity of an acute stroke.It shows median NIHSS as well as the proportion of patients in each NIHSS group.
Only patients whose record was started by an acute team and have a fully completed NIHSS will be included in this measure
