What is the import function?
The import function allows users with existing stroke data collection systems to import their data into the SSNAP webtool, rather than entering the answers into the webtool directly.
In order to access the import function, users need to be set up as an approved importer. Please contact the Helpdesk to set this up.
Please note: Only the first hospital treating a patient are able to use the import function - further hospitals along the pathway can continue the record online as manual data entry.
In order for patient records to be successfully imported, it is essential that each patient record is configured in the correct way – the questions must be in the same order, the answers must adhere to the allowed values, and validation rules must be followed. Only comma separated values (.csv) files can be imported
Below is an example of a CSV spreadsheet:
Header – The first row on the import csv file is a header row. There is an example header row available below; however, the header row can be set as any value. We would advise that you choose a meaningful header row so that you can cross-reference to the specification.
Content of csv – For each field (column), the values must be in line with the requirements set out in the import specification (i.e. must match the ‘Data Type’, ‘Allowed values’ and ‘Rules’ columns).
Blank fields – Some fields are allowed to be blank, and if users try to enter data into these fields it will be incorrect and will show an error. An example of this is shown below: if the patient is an inpatient at the time of stroke, column “S1OnsetInHospital” is a yes (Y) and column “S1ArriveByAmbulance” should be left blank.
