April 2023 - March 2024 mortality process
Ahead of the data-locking deadline for the annual period April 2023 to March 2024, we wanted to inform you of an important update to the mortality outlier notification process for the April 2023 to March 2024 period. Any stroke team with less than 60% case ascertainment for the annual period will be treated as an alarm outlier and subject to the process outlined in section 7 of the outlier policy (available here: Outlier policy: SSNAP stroke mortality reporting ). Currently these teams are shown as “insufficient records” in the public table of mortality.
We would encourage all stroke teams to review their cases on SSNAP and ensure that all cases for the annual period are entered and locked ahead of the deadline of 7 May 2024. The usual inclusion criteria applies that any team directly admitting at least 10 patients with known stroke type over the year will receive a mortality report.
This does not apply to the upcoming April 2021 to March 2023 mortality reports, due to be made available to teams in April 2024 and public in May 2024.
