This guidance is ONLY for patients treated on the mobile stroke unit:
If a patient is treated on the mobile stroke unit please use the information from the ambulance to start the record, the time the patient started receiving treatment onboard the mobile stroke unit can be used as the hospital arrival time, please add 'Mobile stroke unit' in the comments for Q1.13. In this instance the mobile stroke unit replicates A&E so your team should record Q1.14 ‘first ward of admission' based on the actual ward the patient is admitted to once they have arrived at your hospital and Q1.15 ‘Date and time the patient first arrived on a stroke unit’ should also relate to your hospital’s stroke unit.
Any initial assessments conducted on the mobile stroke unit- such as CT scans, thrombolysis and consultant reviews can be used to start the record if applicable. These patients should still be recorded as arriving by ambulance and they should be assigned to East of England ambulance service. Any patients who have been attended to by the MSU will have this documented in their clinical record, a copy of which is provided to the hospital at handover.
