On the 2 April 2020, NHSE and the Welsh Government agreed the following stance in response to the COVID-19 pandemic:
All national clinical audit, confidential enquiries [commissioned / funded by NHSEI] and national joint registry data collection can be suspended. Analysis and preparation of current reports can continue at the discretion of the audit provider, where it does not impact front line clinical capacity. All audit data that can be collected during this pandemic will give insights into how Coronavirus has impacted in other areas.
SSNAP recognises that the full SSNAP dataset is onerous to complete and so have developed a much smaller webtool that should be able to be completed in just a few minutes, allowing teams that wish to, and are able to, continue to enter data collection to do so. We understand that many teams will not be able to continue to enter data under the current circumstances and we would like to emphasise that this new minimal dataset, and any data collection, is not compulsory. The existing webtool (available at www.strokeaudit.org) remains open for any teams that are able to continue to complete the entire dataset.
